A hearty serving of hard rock, with a tasty hint of southern flare to warm the soul. SaltBox, with their deep seated christian roots, is bringing a whole new kind of music to the table. It tastes good, and it’s good for you. SaltBox was started in 2004 by brothers James and Joel Rees. The brothers have been through a lot since the beginning of the band. Two name changes, several member changes, and a complete sound overhaul, and through it all they have grown together into what SaltBox is today. In their journey, SaltBox has reached a couple of milestones. The first came in the Spring of 2008 when the band won the “Lebanon Battle Of The Bands”. This win propelled them to the front of their local music scene and gave them the momentum to launch their debut album “Out of the Box”. Shortly after the release of the album the band hit their second milestone. In late fall of 2008, SaltBox was featured on the #1 Christian CHR radio station in America. They were matched up against a top 40 new release in a “Spam or Jam” contest. To their surprise and excitement, SaltBox won this event. With this win the band has been moved to a whole new level. When you listen to SaltBox you quickly see why they have come this far. The passion in their music is beyond contagious, it’s an addictive brew, one spin and your hooked. You can’t just listen and walk away, something is going to jump up and grab your brain and not let go. If that’s not enough, when band leader James Rees (aka Pops) tells his life story, it is a moving experience. He tells of how he grew up never fitting in from the time he was a young child. This lead him down a destructive path in life where he was willing to do whatever it took to fit in. Almost everyone can relate to his story because most people have experienced rejection at some point in life. “I want people to know there is hope in life,” Rees says. “If you are broken you can be fixed, I was! I know what it is like to hurt and I know what it is to be fixed. We want our music to make a difference in our generation. One of the greatest things for us as a band is when we get a message from a parent that says, my kid came to your show last night and I don't know what you did but they came home different, thank you!” You don’t have to be around this band very long to see that they are more than skin deep. It is obvious they have a mission beyond their music. When SaltBox steps on stage you can tell they came to rock! SaltBox is far from just a rock band, they are a band with a story to tell, and that story needs to be heard.
